What is a Legal Paraprofessional?
A Legal Paraprofessional (LP) is a professional with specific education and experience who is licensed to provide legal services in limited practice areas. This professional is often compared to a nurse practitioner in the medical field.
Under ACJA § 7-210, Legal Paraprofessionals can:
1) Prepare and sign legal documents;
2) Provide specific advice, opinions, or recommendations about possible legal rights, remedies, defenses, options, or strategies;
3) Draft and file documents, related to motions, discovery, interim and final orders, and modification of orders, and arrange for service of legal documents;

5) Negotiate legal rights or responsibilities.

Uncontested Divorce/Summary Consent Decree Process
We focus on clearly defining your specific agreements, subsequently reducing them into a Summary Consent Decree. Regardless of children or not, this streamlined process is designed for parties who have reached a mutual agreement on all pertinent issues. Preparing the necessary documents collectively will ensure the utmost efficiency and coherence. After the documents are submitted to the Court, there is a statutory sixty (60) day waiting period. Once this period has elapsed, the Court will review and sign the Decree.
Contested Divorce
A contested divorce is a legal process where spouses disagree on key issues such as asset division, child custody, child support, or spousal support. Without an agreement through negotiation or mediation, they may need court intervention. While initially contested, the case can sometimes be resolved amicably through Alternative Dispute Resolution, mediation, or informal settlement conferences.
Legal Decision-Making (Child Custody) and Parenting Time
Our primary focus is to provide guidance on legal decision-making and parenting time matters. We approach each case with sensitivity and compassion, striving to secure a parenting time schedule that prioritizes the well-being and best interests of the child.
Child Support
We are knowledgeable and can facilitate the establishment, modification, and enforcement of child support orders. Our dedicated team is committed to providing comprehensive assistance, whether it involves initiating new orders or modifying existing ones.
Modification/Enforcement of Current Orders
There may be times when a party needs to modify or enforce existing court orders due to changes in circumstances or non-compliance of the court orders. We are committed to providing assistance in both modifying and enforcing these orders to ensure they continue to serve the best interests of our clients.
Paternity Matters
Establishing paternity means to establish a legal father of a child. When the parents are not married, it is crucial to ensure that paternity is legally established to secure your parental rights. We understand the complexities and sensitivities involved in establishing paternity and are dedicated to guiding our clients through this process.
Alternative Dispute Resolution/Mediation
Your family law matter does not need to escalate into a contentious battle. We are committed to guiding you through mediation with knowledge and compassion, ensuring that we achieve a fair and amicable resolution for our clients.
Consulting
We understand that litigation is not always necessary, and sometimes parties require assistance solely with preparing family law court documents. While some individuals can prepare these documents, they are unable to offer legal advice. We bridge this gap by not only preparing the required documents but also providing comprehensive legal advice at a lower cost.
